You can use the SNV Timer application for Windows to set up reminders: at the time and date you specify, the application will present the reminder to you. You can set it up so the reminder shows a special message, plays a specific audio file, displays an image or a video, launches a file or folder, opens a website, or shuts down the computer. On top of that, SNV Timer comes with a calendar and a handy notepad.

The SNV Timer installation file is a lightweight 3.3MB, so even if you have a lousy connection, downloading the file will take little of your time. Going through the setup wizard that helps you install SNV Timer on your Windows PC (98SE, ME, 2000, XP, Vista, and 7 are supported) takes little of your time as well. It must be mentioned that during the installation you are asked to select the number of instances; you can choose between 1, 2, and 3 (blue, yellow, and green).

SNV Timer’s interface displays a clock to the left and a countdown timer to the right. From the View option under Menu you’ll be able to play with the opacity, color, fade in speed, and other visual settings. To set up a reminder or alarm, you have to press the Advanced button underneath the clock. In the window that shows up, you can select the date and time when the reminder will be displayed, specify if you want the reminder to be repeated, and set it up so the reminder performs various scheduled tasks. Audio, image, and video files can be played; files, folders, and applications can be launched, websites can be accessed, the computer can be turned off or restarted.

Using the countdown timer is a similarly straightforward process. Click the Advanced button underneath the timer, and from the window that shows up specify the length of the timer, and specify if you want applications, files, folders, video, audio, or websites to be opened when the time runs out.

The application also comes with a handy Calendar and a notepad. You can notice a SNV Calendar and SNV Notepad shortcut on your desktop, assuming, of course, that you did not uncheck the option to create desktop shortcuts. If you did, you can access the calendar and notepad by right clicking the SNV Timer icon in the system tray.

SNV Timer is only free to try. You can test the application’s functionality for free for a trial period of 30 days.

Easily create reminders and run scheduled tasks with the colorful SNV Timer application.

Pros

Choose the number of instances during the straightforward installation process. There are numerous settings to customize the interface. Set it up so that SNV Timer automatically shuts down or restarts the computer, plays an audio file, displays an image or video, opens a file, folder or application, or accesses a website. Comes with a handy notepad and calendar.

Cons

Free to use for a trial period of 30 days.
